Felt dust seals

Post by djohns » Wed Jun 18, 2025 11:28 am

When restoring my CA95, Dream and Superhawk I found the felt dust seals on the suspension have deteriorated to the point they fall apart. Not sure if they were originally wool or polyester. Being that new ones are scarce I made new ones from polyester felt. Went to Hobby Lobby and found a 12”x12” piece for less than a USD. I sprayed it with 3M contact cement and doubled it over. Taking a razor blade I cut 3/32” wide strips off. Cut to length to fit the recesses in the suspension and with the cupped washer it provides a good dust/grease barrier.

I used rubber "O" rings which fit the areas. ......................lm

Hello Forum Members,

Does anyone know or can confirm this was Ed’s last post?
I believe that horrific flooding took place in his home town of Kerrville, TX last July. 7-7-25 is the last post I find. I’ve PM’d him, but no response since July.

I hope he is well too. He has posted his phone number several times although I didn't find it with a quick search. Someone might like to try it.

That said, since this site came back up he hasn't been anywhere near as active and that may be all we're seeing.
