Purpose of this?
Purpose of this?
On my ‘64 CA77 swingarm just behind the pivot tube, on the spreader with the plugs, there is a small bracket facing down with a nut welded to it. Does anyone know it’s purpose? For shipping? Just curious.
Re: Purpose of this?
Good question!
There is nothing attached to mine either, and the parts diagram shows nothing I can find.

Re: Purpose of this?
That is the torque arm mount for the rear brake backing plate, or panel, as they call it.

Re: Purpose of this?
No, you can see the torques arm still fitted in the pic.

Re: Purpose of this?
Asked a local friend , and he replied:
"I had to go look as I didn’t even think mine had it but I indeed do have it and there’s nothing installed in it. Looked back at the pictures I took before I completely disassembled it for rebuild and there was nothing attached pre-rebuild either. It’s a mystery to me!"
Sorry we couldn't be of any help.

Re: Purpose of this?
Those two tabs, facing downward, mount the bottom half of the chain guard.
