What is the size of the 2 small screws that secure the plate lever to the petcock body supposed to be? I say “supposed” because the fiches I’ve found say they are standard JIS 3mm x .5 x 5mm screws. Mine are not and have a .6mm pitch, and not a .5 pitch like the standard JIS.
Anyone else run across this, and if so, where did you source the .6 pitch screws? I have the originals, but they are slightly buggered and I’d like to replace them if I can.
Again, thanks in advance.
And another '67 CL77 petcock question…….Re: And another '67 CL77 petcock question…….I think you'll find that 3mm x 0.5 mm is a standard ISO thread found on later, IE post 65/66 bikes.
The threads on your fuel tap are most likely the earlier JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) threads which will be 3mm x 0.6mm. The correct JIS screws do turn up from specialist suppliers but expect the price per screw to be high. There's not a huge difference between JIS and ISO, so if you really can't find the correct replacements you could run a 3mm x 0.5mm tap through the thread and use standard ISO screws. The screws don't really hold much so don't need to be that tight, anyone else done this??
Re: And another '67 CL77 petcock question…….Yes, I just ran a standard ISO tap thru mine and used SS fasteners - they appear fine after a couple of years and a couple of removals.
Thanks.

Re: And another '67 CL77 petcock question…….Thank you DJM and Muddy.
That's what I kinda feared. Thought I was going a little loony there for a bit looking at the thread gage. I'll go ahead and reassemble it with the original hardware and keep looking for the .6 mm screws, but will keep the 0.5 mm pitch tap on hand JIC..... or JIS as the case may be. Thank you again.
