Frozen?

Just wondering if Master Link was at bottom couldn't you have gotten to it by taking off the oil pump/strainer?Not sure if Honda still carries these, but heres the number for the link...14411-259-000.....DK219 link.

I used a pattern cam chain for the early CB750s; people list them rather than CB72/77 stuff
It came with a soft link but a lot now seem to be endless ( which is probably stronger ).

Whoops!
Well I couldnt get the left side engine cover off (the screw were rounded out so badly) to really get a good look in there. I did how ever get the oil pump off and it came off pretty easy. The entire right side cover came off so easilly its a sin. My dad was amazed because he cant get the screws off of his 1978 550 and my bike is 15 years older.

I had to chisel off a few screws on some left side covers also.I bought a $8.00 impact at Harbor freight which was a big help in getting even some rounded screws off.If the bit could get any kind of bite on the screw a good wack usually loosned it.When you pulled the oil pump you should be able to see the cam chain and sprocket if I'm not mistaken.[/code]

Well i guess I cheeted...
Instead of buying a whole cam chain I found out that Kiss, a local dealer, had a master link NOS from 40 years ago. Big plus is that it came with one extra link so if I screw up I have some type of replacement.

Alright, now that Ive got my chain back together...
How does the engine get lined up for top dead center? Is the left or right side cylander #1?
