Seadog wrote:Nice talking to you today LM, as always. Below are the photos of Bushing C, the "top hat" spindle end bushing and the pawl end of the starter spindle. I hope the images are clear enough. There was quite a bit of copper showing at the pawl end of the starter spindle and bushing C looks quite worn. I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Thanks, LM. I'll call on Monday. I'll need to talk about the bolts too and any needed knock pins.

I continue to work on the transmission and have reassembled the secondary shaft with new parts. There's still a bit of slop in the primary shaft and 2nd gear doesn't engage as well as I'd like. I'll be taking the shift drum out soon to have a good look at it. The shift forks look quite good.
I'm looking at all of the bits needed to get the engine going again and find that, after testing, my condenser is shot. I looked for a replacement, but am a bit baffled by the parts list. There are quite a few listed for my engine serial number range, but looking at available photos of those, they don't seem to match what I have. I would think that any condenser would do, but I'll have to do more research. I suspect mine is part #30250-259-013, but might also be #30250-259-033, 30250-259-014 or 30250-259-034. If anyone has any insight, please share.

I managed to find a NOS condenser and a few other small parts to continue working. Received new screws for the rear winkers and, along with home-made gaskets, finished that project up.
I decided to see if the old coil I'd purchased with brittle wires could be salvaged. The old wires came out fairly easily. I'm now looking for 7mm 19 strand NGK wires, but not having any luck. my Google skills are slipping.
I was able to find a good set of used case bolts, nuts and washers that cleaned up nicely. No re-zincing needed. As soon as I switch out the shift drum with a new one (with new guide pins, rollers and lock washers), I'll be able to get the case back together.
