When the points close they cause a ground to be at the wire location and the 12 volts is grounded and ya should not read voltage..
Are the points clean?
Do they really make contact?. ...........lm

Make sure the fibre washers are keeping the wire from grounding out. Also should be a fibre collar

You will need a graphics editing program that can resize the picture. The one I like for quickly editing or resizing a picture for posting is called IrfanView. It's free and you can find it if you search download.com.

http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000 ... ?tag=mncol

Open the picture with it. In the menu under Image select Resize/Resample. I use 640x480 pixels or if I want it a bit bigger 800x600 Pixels. Press OK then save it as a JPG file. Either of these two sizes normal get you under message board size limits.

There are many other graphics editing programs around that will do the same thing. I use other more powerful programs, but I use InfanView what I when I want to do a quick edit to reduce the size for posting or e-mail.

i unscrewed the bolt

Post by G-GAURD » Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:47 am

i unscrewed the bolt and found all the fibre washers and barrel i also cleaned the contacts and i still get power all the time open or closed now i have removed the horn so i can look at the condenser and it looks dirty and the the metal wire clamps are touching the head cooling fins so i'm gonna loosen it and roll it up to break contact.

i downloaded the infaview and i hope this picture will load up of my points so here goes

Is the points wire contacting the plate where it bends to exit the cover?
Looks like some corrosion there.
