I have a restored dream and new clutch cable but shifting from first to second is a nightmare. I have seen other post stating the forks could be bent and a mechanic friend of mine stated that the these old bikes needed certain type of oil (not synthetic) could the oil be the issue or should I have someone check the forks. Any idea on the cost of replacing the forks would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Tough shifting from 1st to 2nd?
The forks in these engines don't bend.
They wear at the gear contact area.
At times a 1st to 2nd shift problem is due to worn shift rollers and/or shift drum. ............lm
