CL77 Frame Help Needed

Guys, I think I'm missing something - this is a 1965 CL77 frame and at the left rear frame - just behind the driver's peg, my frame has some weld material that shouldn't look like it does. What is missing? Can one of you post a close-up photo of what that area should look like, please?

Once upon a time a steel loop was there to hold the brake light switch. .............lm

Should have this little loop in place to hold the brake switch, which is spring loaded to the 'on' position. As the brake lever is depressed it allows the button on the switch to extend under it's own spring loading.

The one in the picture is a CL72 and looks like it has already been re-welded. They should be similar though.

I am faced with the same problem on my 67 now under restoration. So I dragged out the parts bike for a closer look. I too will have to fabricate a piece to hold the switch. Here is a closer look at what it looks like. Hope this helps.
Gman, that switch you put so much effort into a while back will soon be put to work. Thank you so much for the efforts. Rw

RW, all - thanks for the inputs. RW, would you give me 3 measurements?

1) What is the diameter of the hole?
2) What is the thickness of the bracket?
3) What is the width of that bracket?

It looks like 1" x 1/4" flat steel may be too thick. perhaps 1/8"? I'll go to Lowes and buy their short stock and make 2 of these and send you one for your trouble if you'll take the time to draw/measure. Also, could you rotate the brake switch stop up to the point of contact? I simply want to guage the installed angle of the bracket using that flat of the brake arm as a visual guide during the tack weld.

I'm away from the bike at the moment so I cannot give you dimensions. I would guess around 3/16 or 4mm in Honda money. As for the other dimensions. It's got to fit the standard stoplight switch barrel and should (but mine isn't) be threaded to suit. My piece of steel came from an IKEA light fitting :-)

Gman gave you some good shots of the gizmo , so here is a shot of the switch mounted. Width is about 5/8 in. wide at the widest. The hole is large enough to accommodate a 12MM thread on the switch. I looked at mine and a PO had bent my bracket up to the frame to get it out of the way.My challenge now is to bend it back without breaking it off. So it looks like you need to fab but one. Oh the fun of it all. Keep the pics coming. RW
