Search in trans. This has been touched on in the past . I remember LM saying that it was supposedly a myth .Which I would take to mean that he had never seen it. However mine had been removed upon disassembly.

Hi,

I have installed new wire retainers with restauration of the engine. The old ones came out o.k, but I didn't take the chance to reuse them. Last time I checked, 20.000 km after restauration I saw that the retainners where o.k, so I left them in my clutch.

IMO that is/was a myth caused by the fact that when HONDA changed the semi thick first steel plate to a "twice as thick as the thin steel plates" we couldn't install the wires. Either when there were 2 or later when there were 3. When HONDA did redesign the center hub for the Thick Steel plate we could once again install the wires. Ya need to understand that 5 totally different clutch designs were issued until HONDA finally came through with the 1966 Cush Drive design and springs. Just a myth that they ever broke. ...................lm
