Their suggestion was also to dismantle the crank which I was trying to avoid doing because everything else on the crank is in very good shape. And not to mention the cost of it.....

I was thinking maybe finding the right size bearing set collar to place on the reamer so it would butt square to the face of the rod when reaming?

I know that also wouldn't by any means be exact but it would be better than the eyeball method!

I had good success with the hand reamer, but there was much controversy in the 305 realm...

Thank you for chiming I came across your post earlier and was curious how it was running a couple years later!

I think the method you used is how I will go about it when my oversize pins arrive.

I have the cases split so I may try and make a fixture on my bench to hold the crank when I put the rods in the vise.....

But I will see how it goes and maybe I will take you up on the tool rental.

I put about 1000 miles on that bike after the oversize pins with no issues.

After some searching I may put this idea on the back burner and just look for a different crank entirely......

There is a salvage yard not too far from me that has a pretty good number of cranks I can physically go look at.

The cranks are all the same from 65 to 68 in the 305 scramblers correct?
