looking for cafe racer style tank and seats

Most parts are the same and more often than not the sellers aren't sure what issue the part is actually for. They go by the three middle numbers and think any part with that set of numbers are only for one issue or on the other side they will fit all.
Ya need your own parts book to know the parts which will fit your bike. Ya probably thought your bike was a 1961 because the first number was a "1". Well the 1961 had numbers as "11XXXX". Just a bit of trivia. ............lm

thanks ive been trying to figure that out for sometim now,also i found a sight called BikeBandit.com that has a lot of OEM parts but there only posting for a CB77 is 1961 ,would the parts still be the same

Hello.

I'm in, or have been in the same boat as the guy looking for the cafe tank and seat. I've searched the internet and swap meets the last three or four years searching for a reasonably priced tank and have pretty much come up empty handed. I even traded for a new cr750 fiberglass tank from Airtech and just did not like the look when I mounted it to a bike. It kind of overwhelmed the bike due to being out of proportion. I contacted sources in England for a steel tank (Disco Volente) and found out that the tanks were out of stock and due to exchange rates that new pricing would be in the $900.00 range FOB England.
So, out of neccessity I have designed and have started the ball rolling to produce the tanks in small quantity here in my shop. We just hit the first side panel on the press this afternoon with good sucess and hope to have the prototype ready in the next week. I have based this tank on the photos that I have collected of the CR77. Dimensions will be around 8" wide by 7" tall by 25" in length. The tank will be produced in 18 gage steel. I plan to offer these as a build it yourself kit with all components cut to size or in the as stamped condition for the builder to customize to their own requirement. Being steel, they should be easily constructed in a home shop with a mig or tig welder.

Here's pics' of the first tank tacked up without the tunnel.

I've got a small clearace issue over the coils with the tunnel that I designed so as soon as I solve that I will post pic's of the tank mounted to the bike. As you can see in the photo we have stamped the center section to accept a standard Honda 305 gas cap. Also we may emboss the sides to mount a standard emblem.

Heres some pic's of the tank sitting on a parts bike. I thru a set of clubman bars on to check tank to bar clearance. I had to remove the coils as I haven't fixed the tunnel problem yet. It looks like we'll be able to retain the stock front mount and attach at the rear with a strap. I'm gonna use dual petcocks on this unit and will offer them as an option. The seat ( drawing up on the cadd right now) will mount at the rear using the stock seat mounts. I'll post more as I progress.

i hope im not bugging you alot but your building that bike the exact same way i wanna build mine,i was just wondering where you got those handlbars , and when will one of those tank kits be available for purchase?
