Hi Guys,
Tearing down my forks,as they were locked up and useless. So I have them all apart. In the lower fork leg, there is what looks to be a "plunger" where the M8 Allen Bolt threads into.
Here is my question... is this "plunger" supposed to be able to be removed from the lower leg? Mine does not move smoothly, and is still fouled by a lot of old grease. Also, should this plunger be attached to the upper fork assembly, or is it just a press fit?
Also, what is the seal size for these forks? I saw them in another post, but now I cannot find them, and the old seals are chewed up.... But I measure them at 43X33X10.
Thanks All!
Gersh
'67 CB77 Front Fork DisassemblyWell, at least I figured out the Seal size:
43X33X9.1 Any insight as to how the Front Fork Pipe (#4 on schematic for Type II Later Fork) and the Piston (#3 on the same schematic) fit into the lower fork leg? What is the purpose of the M8 Allen Bolt that is threaded into the bottom of the lower for leg? Thanks! Gersh
Leave the bolt and tube alone.
Just flush slider. ......lm
LM,
Thank man! I was hoping that was the case. Sorry for the double post - was letting desperation take over there.... So, on a fresh rebuild of the forks, I should go with 250cc's of Fork Oil, right? Any links/posts on here that would give a good description on how the fork operates during compression and rebound? Just want to understand how the oil flows to dampen everything. Thanks again! Gersh
