1962 Dream Seat Frame

Post by cadman » Thu Aug 24, 2017 11:08 am

I am working on a 1962 model. The seat frame is in fairly bad condition. I happen to have a good seat frame from a 1965. Visually they are different but from a trial fit it looks like the 1965 frame would work on the 1962.

Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks - Don

C; yes they will interchange. the 62 will have a more pronounced swoop on the front bottom and will fit up to the tank differently (closer). the seats are actually quite different.
Good luck Randy

Seat

I have been messing with it

Had to rearrange the spring setup so the coil spring mount would be in the right place. It appears to be a bit wider at the front - not sure what to do about that. There is a raised curved front that fits into the rounded tank cavity at the back of the tank. I think I can cut that portion off the old frame and weld it to the late frame. I won't be exact but close. Maybe the upholstery guy can make it work.

I doubt that a good 1962 seat or seat frame is available - lots of the early parts are hard to find.

Thanks - Don
