Hey Guys.
I need to remove the cover plate for the transmission so I can remove the engine from the frame. The parts diagrams I have been looking at show the plate being bolted into place with some variation of a hex or allen bolt. My 66 305 Dream has phillips head bolts/screws holding the plate on. I'm having major issues removing them. I have tried heat and a penetrating catalyst. I still cant get any of these screws out.
I want to know if:
1. There are suppose to be phillips screw/bolts mounting the cover plate to the engine and transmission.
2. If there are any tricks to removing the engine/transmission with out removing the cover plate.
Thanks for the help.
Removing Transmission/Clutch Cover Plate+1 on the impact driver, you can't work on the bike without them. You can get
a cheap driver but get a quality set of bits. The ones in the kit aren't that great. About all of the older bikes have phillips screws. Many replace them with allens later on. You should only have to take the right cover off the release the chain. Of course it will have to come off to get to the trans. Brady 66 CA77
