I'm reassembling my CA77 motor and when I slide the Starter Sprocket on the crankshaft, it goes on far enough to bottom out against the case.
I measured the distance from the surface of the case (where the sprocket rubs) to the crankshaft roller bearing at 9.49mm and the height of the Sprocket shoulder (the part that goes into the seal) at 7.73mm. This means that when the sprocket is on the crankshaft seated all the way back to the case, it's still 1.76mm from the bearing. There is/was no spacer on the shaft to shim the sprocket out from the case, and I'm sure I put that bearing on the crank correctly with the roller cage inside facing the crank weights and the outer race on the outside facing the case (just as the parts view shows it). From what I remember, the bearing was the same on both sides, and the Knock Pin hole was centered, so if it was in backwards the only problem would be that the oil holes would not line up.
So, did I screw something up, or does the starter chain keep it pulled out next to the rotor and away from the case? I Hope... ??
