I think I've seen it on here somewhere - are the CB72/77 steering bearings the same diameter as the CB350 which you can readily get needle rollers for?

Ah, now that ssh-750 code is bloody useful as I can now hunt for the cheapest supplier in the UK - Thanks.

Might not need it yet but I'm having real trouble adjusting the plain bearing that's in there now and I never usually have a problem and prefer tapers.

With the SSH-750 bearings, you can make a steel spacer that's 34.8mm OD, 30.0mm ID, 3.7mm thick. This will install over the steering stem right after the thin stock "washer" that goes on first during reassembly. You can then install the standard Honda grease seal around the spacer, and then the lower tapered bearing. This will restore the standard stem to frame relationship, and the grease seal will keep the grease in and the comtaminants out. Perhaps this will work with the All Balls set, but I've never had occasion to use one of them. Regards, Chase

I just did this and it came out great. Everything I needed was in the ALL BALLS KIT.

Didn't realise that the taper bearings needed a spacer as well. In the end I spent quite a lot of time tweaking the steering head bearings before realising that the short bolt that locks the axle to the mudguard had wrecked the thread in the brake hub, and was moving around and causing the front end knock I was trying to cure by bearing adjustment. I fitted a longer bolt and now the front end feels pretty good.

If anybody in the UK is looking at the INOX fasteners kit for the CB72/77 please don't, if I ever bump into them at one of the shows they'll be in for some "discussion", about how all the small bolts they supply are metric and not JIS, how the rear sprocket castle nuts are too high to pass the swingarm, how the split pins are too large, how the centre stand nuts are the wrong thread etc etc. You get the idea.
