Mounting a CB160 Front Fender On My CB77 Super Hawk?

Post by bill440cars » Thu Apr 05, 2007 10:46 pm

Okay, I'd rather have a regular painted front fender on my Super Hawk but, I don't have one. My 63' model might get a CB160 Front Fender, if I can figure out the best way to so it. For those who aren't familiar with the CB160 (I have both 160 fenders BTW) Here is a CB160, so visualize that fender on the CB77. I think it'll give sort of a "CR" look to it myself. I just hate to modify it. What are your thoughts?
Hope this picture turns out.

Hey Joe,

How did you mount it? Did you modify the fender brace? Do you have any pictures to share?
Might be able to make a couple of adapter plates that I can bolt the fender to. The mount holes on
the fork legs, are higher than the ones on the fender braces. Good to know that I'm not the only
one who thinks this would look good.

CB160 fender

My CB77 has the orig steal fork legs. Does yours?
When you get the fender lined up in the legs you will see that the bolt hole wants to be right where the brace is attached. Using sutable instruments of destruction, mash this area down flat as possible before drilling. Flatten some extra on the left to allow the brake stay to lay in. Drill the holes for the alignment pins. Use a thick washer on the right side bolt.
All my photos have to many bits , the digest won't take them.

Yeah, mine has the steel fork legs too. The upper mount hole of the fender brace, is about an inch below the mount hole on the fork leg. That's why I was wondering about the mounting. Were all he CB160 fenders made the same, or do you know? I have no idea what these fenders came off of. They look just like the CB160 fenders though. Was there a CB125 that was similar to the CB160? I'm not sure what the difference is on mine. I hate to hear that about your pictures. Do you think you could get them in an email? My email address is: william106@centurytel.net, if you want to try.

Well, I still haven't mounted that CB160 front fender but, I have been slowly trying to gather some parts to build my 63' CB77 as I think it should be. Keep in mind that, when I got it, it had a CA77 motor (which is seized) and major parts missing (seat, tank panels complete, mufflers, air cleaners w/hardware, rear fender mud flap, headlight and speed/tach. Also, the aluminum footrest mounts were broken too.

My plans are to replace the motor (or convert it to a CB motor), attempt to install a 5sp trans, adapt CB450 carbs, add megaphones (for mufflers), and possibly attempt to clean up the ports.

BTW, (can't believe it took me so long to think to do this) here are the photos from fastjoe concerning mounting the CB160 fender on a CB77. Along with the one that shows the 450 carbs.
