G3 the black wire all the way back to the ignition switch smoked. Haven't peeled back the silver harness cover. Several other wires turned to carbon as well. Here is the harness I'm looking at http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CL72-CL77 ... 93&vxp=mtr Beats the old ones listed so far on ebay. Although it's not complete either.

Also looking at making one from scratch using components from this place http://vintageconnections.com/

harness

Wow...
All the way back to the ignition switch. Is there a fused link somewhere like on the battery clamp? I don't know about that harness from Japan, maybe someone else can chime in, but sounds like a P.I.T.B. to return if it's incorrect for some reason or another. Try posting on the Classifieds here on the forum and maybe someone has what you need. But...if you're savvy enough, I like the idea of creating your own harness too.

Oops, sorry about that. Not an expert on this, but I don't think so. (CB77 has an electric starter.)

These are CL77 -

Maybe someone more knowledgeable about this can confirm.

If you pick up the kit along with crimpers and a couple of sizes of the silver sleeve it's easy to build or repair your own. That's what I did and the new silver looks great.

Looks like an unfused lead was brought in for the added turn signals. That's what started the great melt down. Dollars for donuts it looks like buying a kit from Vintage Connections is the direction I'm going to go with this. The only sticky wicket is the left hand switch group is from a later bike and the color codes are not the same as the OEM. Most the wire colors are very common with the exception of the pink. So I will commit to ordering what is needed after the first of the month. Was hoping to fire it up one more time before removal of the motor for a reseal.
