Hi Tunster, see you have a custom racer which must have been very nice once and hopefully will be again after restoration. Your engine number indicates 1964 as year of production ( I have 102955 ) though you may have parts from different years under that fairing. Looking forward to seeing some more pictures as you progress the project.

Nice! I can see some pretty good frame mods around the footrests and some Amal carbs in there.

Should be a fun project. Does it have any history?

It belonged to a ladys father who has sadly passed away. It stood in his kitchen since around 2000? It was his pride and joy. He raced it around the cheshire area mainly i think. I will ring her to get abit more info when she returns from ozz.

CB72 racer

Post by GORDON BROWN » Sat Aug 30, 2014 6:01 am

Hello Tunster

Looks like a good project, either as a track bike or if it is registered, as a café racer / special. One thing that is always worth checking with older racers is the no. of gears it has as you may be lucky ( well this is a relative term ) and find it has a close ratio 5 speeder.
As others have said this is a good site with plenty of help available on both road machines and racers.
Have fun.
