Duke, good luck with your new project. I had zero experience with motorcycles before finding a barn-fresh CP77 last year. Fortunately I found this site, and on it found a link to Bill Silver's CD for sale with lots of invaluable info. I highly recommend buying one. (No, I don't get a kickback!) It just saved me from a lot of mistakes and got my CP77 rebuilt and running within a few months. And thanks also to the several experts on this site who generously answered questions from a beginner.
Let us know how it goes! Jesse

Thanks Jesse. I plan on getting a few things, Bill Silver's CD included. I'll prolly get one of those Electric Ignitions as well. Once I get it home and go over it, I'll know better what I need. I'm pretty sure a new final drive chain is going to be in order as well.

I'm excited as most of what I work on is new (or newer) American (think HD and custom) stuff. It'll be nice to put something back to fresh again without cutting it up! :D

I do know I need a tank and front fender. Gonna see about getting the seat pan reworked if it's usable. I know some really good seat guys.

I'm anxious to get started. Also found an MB5 that's been sitting out for some time in ATL for $100. Anyone think I should get it??
