I should probably do a new 'riding' video that highlights the 'roar' that my mouse makes going down the road.

Went for a great ride today -- 200 miles in total on some of the best roads in Central/Western Maryland. I charted a course beginning just west of Baltimore, and passed through Maryland's Civil War battlefields, into Pennsylvania, and all the twists, turns, hills and valleys that the area had to offer. Some roads were twisty narrow ribbons, while others were veritable roller coaster rides. Not too much traffic, and the weather could not have been better.

Andrew (middle) rode his Ducati 696 Monster, and Lee had his CX500. Of course you know what I rode.....

I'm trying to figure out a better way to do it. I'm thinking if I clip a mic to the end of the muffler that might work, but I don't want it to blow off while I'm riding. Additionally, the only cameras I have that will accommodate a mic like that are my larger cameras (Nikon D4 and Nikon D800), but I'd probably have to wear those around my neck in order to do it (not necessarily the best camera location). And I don't want to go get one of those GoPro Hero cameras just for this. So let me sort it out and see what will work. What might possibly work is my iPhone, but I'll have to get some kind of mount for it (and I'm pretty sure my mic will just plug into the headphone jack).

And hopefully you'll be able to withstand the noise!

Or get someone to follow you and record from behind where the noise is.

What I'm thinking is to use one of my clip-on microphones and attach it to the end of the muffler. Then it would not be susceptible to any wind noise, and it would be 'at the source', as it were.

My iPhone would need an adapter to use a microphone, and even a GoPro would require an adapter to use a standard 3.5mm headphone-jacked microphone. I'm looking at one of the GoPro cameras, but I have to justify the purchase beyond simply this one video.

And this time, I'll be sure to shift up to 5th!
