Sucker for old JunkSucker for old JunkRan into this doing a favor for a distant relative......"This old mower is taking up too much space in my garage", she said, "can you help get rid of it?"
1974 IH Cub Cadet Model 169......with the usual...rusty gas tank, gummed up carb, flat tires, no brakes, sloppy steering, corroded battery, etc.etc.. Needless to say, it followed me home!

Thanks, Seadog, I'm actually having fun learning on this one.
I didn't know these things have sort of a cult following, with their own web sites, and learned right quick not to call them "lawn mowers"!....instead ...."GARDEN TRACTOR"! Bumped my head a couple times on the starter trying to find it! (starter/generator that is) Cleaned the tank, carb (1/2 full of tar), points, trimmed plug wire, changed oil, and started right up. Steering had a lot of slop, and the worm gear follower was worn, and removing the steering wheel to get the steering box out was a challenge without breaking it. Now to get the hydrostatic fluid changed and the transmission controls adjusted.

Well, that's the problem!...I really don't need it, but I am becoming attached to it. I've only got a 1/4 acre lot (er.. I mean obstacle course) , no garden, and a short driveway, and I already have a small snowblower for that. So, after I get finished with it, and get tired of riding it around the neighborhood, I'll probably end up selling it :( 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
