wiring in a new rectifier
wiring in a new rectifierHi I recently purchased a new rectifier for my cl77 scrambler, i went to wire it in, and was not to sure which wires go to which connectors. The rectifier has Red Black and Yellow but the bike has Red Brown and Yellow. Iam assuming the Brown wire is the negative but i just wanted to check before I went ahead.
Thanks Joe
To be more specific - the red wire goes from the center of the rectifier to the battery. The yellow and brown wires go to the two outer connections. Makes no difference which on which terminal. I still don't see a black ground wire. I don't think the rectifier has a ground wire. Nor is one required.
He's talking about a replacement rectifier, with a hot wire and a ground wire. A ground IS needed for the rectifier to work. Stock units make the ground connection through the mounting bolt.

Thanks for the replies this might explain my evening as the bike died mid ride, the red obvuiosly goes to red, the brow and yellow goes to the yellow points on rectifier and the black is the ground, this connects to the mounting bolt. I think this would explain the fact the light was not fading even though the bike was loosing power, spot of rewiring tomorrow and i will post the results.
Thanks for the contributions.
