Still no luck.

All told I have been soaking the threads of these screws for 2 weeks. have used WD40, CRC Power Lube, PB Blaster and Liquid Wrench. I've turned the tank upside down and soaked the heads of the screws, I've had it right side up and puddled PB Blaster in the bottom of the tank to soak them from the other end. I've used an impact driver on the screws too, they have not budged.

So, if I drill the heads off and remove the petcock is there going to be enough screw shaft sticking up to grab with vice grips? Are the nuts the screws mate to welded to the bottom of the tank or will the shaft and nut simply fall loose into the inside of the tank?

I'm with Fastjoe. Get an impact driver. The type you hit with a hammer. Got to work BUT if it don't I'll tell you the next step to get them out but try the impact driver first. the cheap to buy. Paul

Tried the impact driver, no joy.

I did get ONE screw out today. After my last post I was taking a new cordless drill I bought today out to the garage and on a lark I popped a phillips into the chuck, set torque to max, put it onto one of the screws with all the weight I could and lo and behold it backed out! No such luck on the remaining two. The one that came out was VERY rusty.

Your either going to have to MIG a small nut on the head of the screw or drill the heads off of them and then get them out with vise grips. It's time to take drastic action my friend. It's not that bad. Go for it!Paul

Thanks Paul, I'll give that a go later this evening. I hope to get the majority of my sheet metal to a painter after work today!

Depending on how much screw head is protruding, you can use a Dremel with a *thin* metal cutting wheel (not the reddish cutoff wheels) and make a fresh slot for a flat-head screwdriver to fit into.
