valve cover motor mounts

I am putting a dream motor in a hawk chassis. The motor bolts up to the front motor mount, and the rear mounts great. I can make a rearward top motor mount bracket(head steady), but I am curious as to why the cb77 mount(valve cover) has an offset unlike the ca77e. If I were to put a cb top mount on, the motor wouldn't bolt up anymore, so is it safe to assume the lower rearward motor mounts are offset different between the two as well?

The chain line looks straight as an arrow with the ca motor in the cb frame, so unless someone has any reason to believe it won't work I am going to run it. It appears I can fab up a rearward upper mount that will allow the stock cb one to stay if I ever decided to put a cb motor back in the frame.

As these engines are totally similar and the engines are the same in assembly all you need to do is use the CB in the CB frame. ......lm

Thanks for the quick response LM. Do you know why they did an offset for the mount on the cb? Everything "looks" straight with the ca and fits like a glove with the most forward mount, so it seems strange to me that the cb would even fit. I'm not saying your wrong, just trying to wrap my head around it since I don't have a cb mount in front of me to compare, I'm just going off of pics.

Unfortunately building a bike from a basketcase makes putting stuff together a bit more difficult especially when using a hodge podge of parts.

Each engine (C/CA/CB/CL72/77) have their own design of top.
The engine it fits are all the same at the top.
So any top can be put to any engine.
The difference is the frame mount area.
Actually there is no more off set with the CB than any others.
In this case your pic isn't worth a Million dollars not even a nickle. ....lm
