would safety switch prevent spark?

i tried to send a photo of the points but it takes up to much space

from left to right it goes as follows

nut--wire--leaf--fibre washer--lead to plate?--fibre washer--bolt

i did the circuit light to the leaf spring on the points and its getting power when i rotate the crank and the points seperate and no power when the points close.

i'm gonna get a new coil just to be sure it was only 40 sum dollars from JC whitney but until it arrives i will check all the wiring and see if i can get a spark
