So, I bought a 67 CA77 last week. Bit of a project bike. Only missing a couple of parts. Came with a box of extra parts and parts that had been taken off of the bike itself. The previous owner had purchased a new set of coils, rectifier, and main wiring harness. He gave me the old harness which was literally a pile of individual wires. The wiring in the headlight bucket was pretty "Bozo'ed" up. I'm trying to "un-Bozo" the mess. I printed up the wiring diagram for C72's and C77's that I found on this forum.
The big mystery is this: Some of the wiring for the key switch doesn't match the diagram. The key is the same for the switch and the steering lock. There is a mystery white wire that is part of the wiring, and no brown wire. It is a five position switch.
So, do I have the right switch/wrong diagram or wrong switch/right diagram? And is there a suitable aftermarket replacement or alteration? I just want to get it wired up enough to get the engine to fire up.
