CB77 Stanley tail light - which bulb to use

I am having trouble fitting an 1157 bulb with offset pins into my rear Stanley tail laight - a bulb wasn't present for reference when I took the lens off but from what I can tell most are using an 1157 - any ideas?

1157 is the correct bulb, socket may be buggered up?

Thanks Dave - at least I know now for a fact that I'm using the right bulb - I'll look into the socket as being the culprit.

A bit basic, but rotate the lamp (bulb) 180º; it will only lock in in one position. Sorry to be, well, basic, I s'pose.
