Bigscoot -- How was it feeding the wiring through the handlebar? As well, what can you tell us about the solo seat you have? I'm thinking of doing a new project involving my white 305 Dream (Japan Meets Germany this time!), and was considering a seat like that (or a Denfeld), as well as lower bars, plus a few other inexpensive bits. I really like the look you're going for there, so hope you don't mind if I pay homage to a few of the ideas....
I had a similar problem with short cables involving the flat bars on my CB77 and my (then) stock levers and the proper clutch cable routing. Don't know why that was, but Terry at Western Hills actually had to measure various cables before he got one that was sufficient length.
Is that rear rack from a Vespa????

i'm afraid the cables won't work with the metal on them. they need to be flexible to negotiate the headset. here's some pics.nicoderm wrote:i got my drag bars today. 28" wide. im hoping i can use the existing cable. the only problem i see is the chrome tubing on the clutch cable and the brake cable at the lever. i might have to bend it to make it fit. ill have the bar in the shop on Monday to get the slot cut out.

the rear rack is a modified honda trail 50/70/90 rack
this is a bike i had in hawaii years ago. it's the one i modeled this one after. it was a non US import

Are the cables on your bike standard stock length? or did you have to find shorter cables to work?

i have a post 1965 bike, so i was able to use a superhawk clutch cable.nicoderm wrote:Are the cables on your bike standard stock length? or did you have to find shorter cables to work?
on the pre 1965 bikes, i think you can use the regular replacement clutch cable and hide excess length inside the body.
i used standard length brake and throttle cables. you just need to be creative where to tuck any excess cable.
the more bends in the cable, the more cable lubricant is necessary :-)

How does the riding position work for you? Right now I have the higher bars with the standard dual seat, and it's pretty comfy, but it doesn't feel as 'involved' as the flat bars on my SuperHawk. I'm thinking of installing superbike bars (a slight rise, and they're wider than the flat bars) and a solo seat along the lines of what you have.

for me the riding position is still quite vertical(at 6ft tall). my wife looks really cool on it(at 5'4"). she leans forward quite a bit. the flat narrow bars makes it feel pretty sporty. it's such a small bike, its difficult to find aftermarket bars that look in scale.Vince Lupo wrote:How does the riding position work for you? take some pictures when you get it set up, it's sounds pretty cool.
