Is the carb a round bowl or a square bowl?. ..................lm

Geeky,

I too had a problem with leaky bowl gaskets using the Keyster gaskets. I finally solved the problem by installing OEM Honda gaskets (PN 16129-268-004), still available through Honda.

No - the square variety. The Keyster gasket's corners are too squared off even for my square bowl. It has a more radiused corner. There is no way to make the Keyster gasket work on my bike even with trimming. One would have to trim the sharp corner off, but it would not leave enough material to stay together or stop gas from leaking. Should have taken a pick.

You can easily make your own bowl gasket. Just get some gasket material from your favorite auto parts store and measure, trace or whatever (if you have the old one as a pattern, all the better) then just cut it out with an x-acto knife or even some good sharp scissors. I've made dozens of gaskets this way, eveything from valve covers to crankcase covers. Some pretty complex ones too.

Hmm, I tried doing that with some gasket material I got at NAPA. Got it trimmed up real nice but it leaked when I filled the bowl. I dont think it was compressing enough to seal. Maybe it was the wrong material.

Are you sure the float level is set correctly to spec? The level of gas in the bowl should be below the gasket. Meaning, the gasket just prevents gas from sloshing out. Also, the rubberized gasket material works well.
