questions about building a racer-for the streetseriously, I don't know what a battery eliminator is. Google leads me to things like: Accel Battery Eliminator Capacitor. no way it could be that simple.

I do have a complete bike, motor is broken down and split, need to bore anyway, mechanic says new cams couldn't hurt, I doubt it's necessary. definitely valves, springs, keepers and all. I also need to mention that it was not much money to obtain, hence the willingness to throw some change at it. I have a nice running fairly stock one too. i will not mess with that much. I found these incredible CB77 racers at Team GBA's site owned by Tim Mings and Brent Hensley. http://www.teamgba.com/teamgba/tim_mings.html I emailed Brent about them. nice guy. They did lots of work to them and enjoyed power increases, at quite a price I am sure. nice anyway Not sure but think it came with its own gasket.

Back in the 60s, I started with a stock CB77 and went to a Webco 350 kit with mild race cam, heavy duty valve springs and heavy duty clutch discs and springs. Used stock carbs with larger mains. Removed battery and starter. Went to fiberglass tank and seat. Ported and polished head, milled for higher compression ratio. Changed sprockets for 11K redline in 4th on track main straight. Made a HUGE difference in performance, engine very reliable and easy to start. BTW, average rider weight back then was 150-160lbs, today ??? --Randall
Kustom, What's ultimately fun is going real fast on a little bike I've made myself, and taking a Harley at the light. (HA) We'll see what comes of it, what's not fun is spending all my nickels doing so and having nothing to show for it. You have yet to be proven wrong on this. As I sell my unused band equipment, turned 40 and nobody can play in a band anymore; I have no idea why-probably some evil equation that rules the world, We'll see how much one hobby will support another. (I'm keeping the Gibsons)
rbaselt, thanks for that info. I've contacted a winning veteran racer who has agreed to give me some tips and help with the build. I'll keep you guys posted. I don't expect that it will happen quickly though as I can't dip into the bank much. Was the reason behind the changed clutch disks and spring to support the new sprockets or simply the higher output overall form the Bore and cams? Like I said, I am new to all this, never done anything like it, so any more tips and opinions are like gold to me btw. I weigh 150-160 depending on how much beer I've had.
