High throttle problem

Post by willy_j » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:48 pm

My 67 CA77 starts up easily enough, and she idles fairly well. My problem is that when I give her throttle past a certain point, she starts to stutter and hang up. Would this be a problem in relation to timing, for example too advanced of timing? Using the gator clip and light method, I got her close enough to fire, but did notice that it was a little bit before, but just barely. Would being just a small amount off cause it to 'stumble' when being fed a higher gas amount? Thanks in advance.

Have you used a timing light to check the actual timing?. ......lm

I have been unable to get hold of a strobe timer that works. Do you have a link to decent priced ones?

Not knowing what you think is a decent price is I find Harbor Freight has a $24.99 and a $13.99 for sale. ............lm

The $13.99 light is junk, don't waste your money.
