Starter not engaging
I have been working on a 66 superhawk and after repeatedly starting the bike the starter doesn't seem to engage but spins... I pulled the covers of and don't really see anything broken... Obviously there is a problem... It just sounds like something is stripped.. This is my first 305 I have worked on.... Most of my experience is with newer Honda fours... These are tricky little bikes and any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Re: Starter not engaging
I suspect the springs which work with the 3 rollers at the rear of the rotor are bad and the rollers don't grip the starter sprocket when the starter motor spins the sprocket.
Pull the rotor and check. ...........lm

cool I will look into that when I get back to the bike later on this evening..... I have been married to this bike for the last 3 weeks... Also this is off subject but as for parts... where is the best place? In the future I plan on owning one of these and would like to know where I could readily find good parts... Dallas is kinda a black hole for old honda parts.
