cylinder liner re-flushing

On my first rebuild, CL77 top end, cl72 bottom end...I noticed the cylinder liners were about 4 to 5 thou below flush.

Can I slide by with that? If not, what is best way to level them out. Skim the top of the cylinder?
Or I also have an industrial hot plate and a hydraulic press if that is the better solution?

It happened to my CB77; after 2 blown head gaskets, I had the cylinder block machined.

Mill the cylinder. Pushing the liners up wont hold, they'll work thier way back down.

An alternative is to make steel shims that fit under the liner lip. This is a better way for gear-driven cams, but on chain-driven engines milling the cylinder is fine. The sleeves come out very easily if the cylinder is heated to 250 F. --Randall
