I ordered bits from my local Fastenal. The just barely made a dent. They said the next price up was 30+ dollars apiece for a 2mm bit. I’m either going to try one more time by ordering some bits or buy another crank. These were cobalt bits.

I think I’m just going to get another crank. I’ve tried 8 different bits. Honda had some hard metal ! The last two bits I used were Artu’s which were recomended. On there site they describe the multi-purpose for hardened steel but I couldn’t find those in that small of a size. 2mm or 5/64. As you know buying cranks off line is a crapshoot .
Spark erosion would probably work but finding someone around here won’t be easy.

I have a suggestion. Where I live one of the major industries is car and car parts production and to support this there are dozens of companies supplying the factories. I have found that by asking around I have been able to find things that would never be carried by a hardware store. Odd tools can be expensive(!) but they are often available.

As a last suggestion - how about a diamond burr in a Dremel or similar. You may need the patience of a saiint but it should work.

That’s a great idea.
I thought about a burr on a Drexel but thought it would dull fairly quick. A diamond type burr might do it

You might need to build a little moat around the hole to contain some lubricant/coolant. Do you have plasticine in the US? That should work.
