I couldn’t budge the plugs with a punch, so i left the alone. I drilled the spring caps with a 1/8” drill bit. They spun and caught on the bit and I was able to pull them out with the bit.

Its the same as mine, they would have punched straight through!!

Also, since you drilled them out, whats keeping the springs in place, do they go into the drilled hole??
