UK went metric, monetarily-speaking, Feb 1. 1971. We were starting to work with ISO-Metric threads when I was in grammar school ('66), but the move to Kilometres from miles still eludes the British public, even though we actually dropped yards, feet and inches decades ago! We measure, engineering-wise, in metric too.
