Crank is part CB450, part CB72. Longer stroke, bigger bore = more cubes. The cam tunnel is welded in the middle to make room for bigger liners. The outer parts of the crankcases also need welding up as larger openings in the crankcase will break through. The picture is not my engine.

I have a 500 done in the same way but without the direct gear primary. Mine has an idler gear and uses the crank gear from a CB450 and clutch outer from CB500F.

No sarcasm, just humour. Is your intention a fast road bike or an all-out racer? You can achieve almost anything if you are prepared to do (or pay for) the work... :-)

Just a fast road bike. I like little hotrodded bikes like 500cc CB77s. Would one put the CB450 head up on the 500cc barrels then, or would it matter? I don't really see the benefit of twin cam when there's still only 2 valves per cylinder.

The EFI kit has been pushed on to another bike. Too many Chinese parts. I was having an impossible time getting the crank trigger on the ECU to stop "auto-learning" the magnetic fields from the alternator. The owner of the company even told me he's stumped. Put carbs back on it. I'll post something up on what I did a bit later.

Sounds like a big-bore kit, 5-speed transmission and a sensible cam from Megacycle with some tidying up of the ports would sort you out.

Pity about the fuel Injection - that looked interesting.

Yeah, after a couple solid years of dicking with it, I gave up. I tried making panels out of magnetic field smoothing panels, reinstalling all the electronics, starting over on ECU software, everything. I think with a proper micro/megasquirt, it would work, but not with EcoTrons. My fault, really, trying to go with a new company instead of dealing with a proven system.

Did you try muMetal shielding? I worked with that a long time ago to shield some telemetry electronics fitted to a 25kV overhead line rail catenary system. We had the electronics inside a muMetal box inside a steel box inside a stainless steel outer box. It worked, eventually...... :-)

That's actually exactly what I used. I had Mu, steel, Mu, and the VR sensor still had trouble sorting out the signals.
