Hi guys,
I just put the top end on last night and was having trouble getting the cam chain on. It is a new cam chain but I'm wondering if I've missed a step.
I put the camshaft and bearings in and got that dailed in.
Put the new Pistons in and fitted the head.
Cam roller is in fine.
I didn't put the cam tensioner in yet since the cam chain is so tight it won't go on.
Any help would be great. This is my first time diving in.

Re: Fresh rebuild cam chain feels too tight
Try this.
Put the nuts on the studs at the spark plug area and tighten them.
That will squeeze the gasket a bit,
If you need more.
Stack washers (or other spacer) on the middle studs and tighten nuts there.
See if this helps. ............lm

Thank you for the response! I tightened it down and got the. Cam chain to go on, will try the tensioner today but is it normal to have the cam chain that tight or should there be some slack in the chain? Also should the tensioner go up in the engine with the roller slightly upwards? Thank you again!
