valve spring compressor

I recently struck a deal with Davomoto for his cl72 head. He did not need the hardware so I decided to start the learning curve in working with these heads.
Step one -- take the fool thing apart. Only problem was; no spring compressor. So I fashioned up a crude one that turned out to be quite effective. Using it for re-assembly may very well be a different story and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
All it took was a large c-clamp, a small socket, a larger socket and an angle grinder to cut a window in the socket to allow access to the keepers.
Step two-- Learn how to put it all back together again. That will certainly take some time and money. Making progress,,,,,,,,,,,,,,RW

I used a very similar method. Hate to buy a specialty tool just the same as you. Great Honda minds think alike. I cut the side out of an old spark plug socket W/ a die grinder. Worked swell. Magnetizing a pocket screw driver for removing the keepers and put a dab of silicone paste help help them stuck to the valve stem puttin em back in.

Nicely done RW. It probably works as well as the Kowa Honda one I have! Looking forward to reciving the head, and I'm working on tracking ddown that switch for you.

I will modify this thing a bit as I figure out which way it needs improvement. but it got me through this part and that's what counts. RW

one C clamp and this, $2 tool. add washer to large side if needed.
use magnet on side of screwdriver to deposit them
then tickle them in with a stick or spray can straw.
no need to wipe out 1 Clamp.

ps. i rolled the edge inward a tad (copper) so then end dont slip off valve.
i used tongue depressors or Popsicle sticks on sides to protect MAIN CAP threads.
