installing cb77 cams

I installed new bearings on my cb77 cams and installed them into the head, but i am unsure how far in to tap the bearings. Also how do I center the cam and sprocket in the head?

You need Bill Silver's manual. Click on Marketplace in the left-hand column of this webpage, then click on Motor & Restoration. Both manuals are good, but the Motor guide is the one you want.

I do have the manual, and used it to install the cams, but it needs more pictures. My cam sprocket appears to be about 1mm off center as measured by the holes for the studs.

As I recall, the important thing is that when the cam covers are installed, that no binding of the cam occurs. This pretty much determines where your sprocket will be, as there is not much room for error in either direction. I wouldn't worry too much about centering it, just make sure your cam turns freely after tightening down those covers. --Randall
