CB160 added to the herd

Post by Snakeoil » Wed Nov 09, 2011 6:04 pm

Picked up a very nice CB160 today from a guy I work with. Title says it is a '69. Need to check the harness tag. His dad bought the bike in the early 70's with 1800 miles on it. Side covers were missing. Bike has 5K on it now and is otherwise just about all there. Rear flap is missing. Paint is decent, no major dents. Right muffler is a little rotted. Will probably patch it and look for a spare. Engine is free and has plenty of compression. Tank looks like new inside. Bike had been stored inside since 1975. As a result, the tank badges look like new. Just missing one screw.

This bike should clean up nice. Only road rash I see is pegs are angled back a bit and a crease in the rotten muffler.

regards,
Rob

Nice, wish my 65 was that nice, the engine seems to as frozen up as my 305 SuperHawk was.
Where can you get tank badges? Missing a bunch of other stuff too.
Got a key from hondakeys and she fits good
Thanks,

I need a key for mine. Can you please post the link for Hondakeys?

I see standard pistons and rings for sale on ebay. Look like NOS.

I pulled the tank off today to check the wiring harness tag date. Says 1965. So probably a '66 model year. Has steel fork sliders.

Here's a link to my Photobucket album in case anyone is interested.

When I pulled the tank, it appears it's the first time it's ever been off the bike. Got a real gem this time. Wish the right muffler was not so rotten. Guess I'll be on a quest for one.

regards,
Rob

RHS Muffler here, but probably more than you paid for the bike.......

Key number

Post by Snakeoil » Sat Nov 12, 2011 10:20 am

Davo,

I knew you had keys and was going to ask you, too. Glad you saw this. Number is T1346.

G-man, yes, that is a hefty price for that muffler. Not to mention what it would cost to ship it over here. Don't imagine it will fly off his shelf so I'll keep that in mind. If the sprucing up process does not get too costly, I can justify a few luxury expenses to make the bike perfect. Needs a rear mud flap too and a NOS item is over $100.

regards,
Rob
