hi jason, any help with parts would be great, when i got mine the cover on the right was damaged, as they had put a big horn on, dont know what else they where running off it, i have got that cover now, my bike is at a engine restorers place, i also sent them a spare engine just in case they needed any bits from it , as making gears gets very costley, not spoken to them for a while to see if any work had started, i only want them to do the engine as he has a good history on honda engine's, if you have a copy of the parts list , that would help. heres a link to my bike, might help . i think in the barn is a gear lever and kick pedal i think. alan

Thanks Alan,

If you have the kick lever, I could use that, I also need the clutch actuator lever that attaches to the side of the engine (and any internal rods/mechanisms to make that work, if you're willing/able to part with those peices from your spare engine after yours is rebuild, that would help me greatly).

I'll make a copy of the parts list and get that scanned; please give me some time on that, as my engine is also with a repair specialist at the moment, and I let him borrow the parts list for reference.

Ahhhhhhhhh, brings back memories from my first trip to Japan back in 1958 where I bought my first of many Hondas which was a 1954 Dream. It was somewhat strange looking, but did OK for what it was. Besides my CL77s and CBXes, my favorite was a CB92 Super Sport Benly with the race kit. After the Dream, I got a 125 Benly (1956) and then a 1958 C92 and converted it to a C77 with another set of jugs and pistons etc. Standard black with a red seat. Later I had a CB125 which we also converted to a CB160 as we were then limited to only 125cc on the base.

Interesting to see the rolling chassis in those pictures. If you had not already told us it what a Honda, I would have bet it was a vintage BMW chassis.

Makes you wonder if Mr. Honda has been influenced by his German allies when he came up with his first designs.

Cool story, do you have any photos of those old Honda?

I'll have dig up where I read this, but I once read that the early Honda bikes were copies of other more established bike brands.

I forgot that I also saw one of the first tube framed Honda four cylinders 250s back in 1952. Had no fairing, but we had built a TT track on the base and the rider (local Japanese) managed to get it on base and rode it for a few laps in the dirt. Yes, it was a handfull and was just before Japan got into GP racing. Who could imagine? I also remember the first Yamaha 250 twin two stroker. Man that thing would really run!!! (1958) Wish I'd had the foresight to take pictures. Had some neat rides back then most of which never came to the States.
