Well, it's been a hectic couple of months with very little 'shed' time. I am just three weeks away from retirement but seem to be busier than ever just trying to extricate myself from various projects. More time for my projects but very few opportunities for trips to the US, the land of cheap Honda parts. I just hope I've got everything covered.....

I did get the brackets off the seat pan with a little help from my big gas torch. There are a couple of holes to repair but, apart from the loss of the seat tangs, it feels pretty solid. I've promised to re-do the big end of my friends Gilera so it's going to be a little while, yet.

These seats have bolted brackets rather than the welded style that is used on later seats. At least it gives me a little project to get started with.

I'm not sure if there have been more 1961 Honda parts on eBay laterly or just if my ability to spot them has improved with time. Because of the addictive 'collecting' side of this hobby I have picked up quite a few 'spares' for this project.

I keep telling myself that they are for my upcoming CYB72 project but 'finds' have been coming thick and fast compared with when I started the project.

When I built up the forks for this project I had 'convert' some later fork ribs. Just recently a pair appeared on eBay, so I had to have them. These early ribs do not have the groove for the rubber ring. Instead the cusion is on teh top of the fork ears under neath the top triple-clamp.

Shortly after this purchase a full set of early fork covers turned up, complete with a set of early ribs.

There were just enough pictures to work out what they were....

With any luck, these will be suitable for my '62 CB72 and / or the CYB project. An embarrassment of riches, so to speak!

If it stops snowing and raining here we might make some progress this weekend.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. About time you shed that 9-5 drudgery and get down to the real important work of motorcycle restoration.
