Honda C200, about to undergo a mild restoration.

Post by smithenhiven » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:39 pm

Hello everyone.

After selling my 1957 Benly JC (which I regret daily), I felt the urge to own another Honda bike, so I went on the hunt and found one.

I just picked up a beauty of a machine, a Honda C200. I wish I had pics to share, but those will have to wait a few days.

The title says she's a 67, but from the brief research I've done online, it appears they were only made from 63 - 66. Perhaps it was a left-over 66 which was sold in 67, so it's title as such?

I bought it off the son of the original owner, it's got just a shade over 3000 original miles, and it's in overall good condition. Runs and rides great, although it could use a carb cleaning, other than that just needs a minor cosmetic restoration. Maybe one of these days I'll give it a respray, maybe use the same color white (it's originally white anyway) as my 64 Honda S600 to have a pair of matching paint machines.

I desperatly wanted to buy the guy's 64 Dream 305 as well, but didn't have the cash; it was also purchased new by his father, the pair of bikes spent over 40 years together.

I'll be posting some pics as soon as possible.

One question:

Is there an electronic ignition kit available for these bikes? Or can an electronic ignition from a later modle Honda be made to work on this bike?

Jason.
