A couple of questions concerning "rubber(s)".. I am working on a '63 CL72...Has anyone a source for the rubber "tits" that are used on the side cover brackets? Is it possible to remove the tank knee pads and perform repair on minor cracks in the pad? Is there a methodology for "rejuvinating" rubber parts to make them more pliable and perhaps extend their life? I know there has to be some tips out there. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the dealer? There are many "little" parts still available. They had new sidecover rubbers for my 82 Custom and I have found screws, brackets etc for my Dream. Worth a shot.

I was given advice and it worked.

First I cleaned them with alcohol.
I then sprayed them down with Amor All and rubbed in in. They were dry, so I did it a couple of times.

I then placed a knee pad each into a large ziplock bag and sprayed a liberal amount of Amor All inside.

I folded it tight in the bag and let it soak for a few days.

I removed and wiped cleaned. It looked pretty good. It will not repair cracks, but it will maked the rubber soft and clean again.

Interestingly I found one used (knee pad) on eBay so I bought it but, it is a good 3/8" shorter than the one I pulled off.... I can only assume that is due to the stretching that had occurred on the ones that were installed ??? There wasn't a difference in size between CL72 & CL77 was there? If anyone knows let me know, I am curious. I assume it won't be real easy to pull this one over the mount...

also.... there is a set of bumpers (reproductions) on eBay made by a group named Clauss Studios, I am going to give them a call and see what they want for them..
