Thanks for the tip on the chassis number I will examine the area very carefully to see if there is a hint of number.
I acheived ignition on the engine last night.
I had foolishly assumed that the green wire on the new coil I bought would go the the green wire on the wiring loom, similarly the black wires. Apparently not, the green goes to the black and the black to the green.
Problem solved.
The short in the headlight was inside the globe.
Now all I have to do is figure out how the globes stays inside the headlight. My original headlight has a clip that held the globe in place. I got a new headlight that does not have the fittings for this clip.
Does anyone know the globe stays in one of these"holders". I am thinking a rubber boot of some sort, but the local honda dealer wants a part number...
I have attached a shot of the horn, and another newer horn that I am considering ripping the guts out of and putting in the old horn. I might get lucky there.
C92 1959??
Yes, of course the green goes to black, and the black goes to green? Strange days indeed! I assume the horn on the right of picture is the origional? Have you tried to disassemnle it? You may find that by sanding or filing the contacts that you can make it beep. Were you able to find an adjustment screw on back of horn?

the old one is actually the one on the left, the silver one.
I have painted it.
I did dissassemble it, I cleaned then filed the points. Then I adjusted the points one way then the other. It is dead.
I pulled the guts out of the other dirty horn, drilled the holes out and squeezed it all inside the silver casing. Works well and looks original.
Problem solved.
So apart from a leaking fuel tap, getting the seat from the upholsterers and tuning I think the bike is done.
I have attached a blurry picture of the bike with the wrong seat sitting on it to get the effect of what it will look like.

I have sorted all the electrical issues, my only problem now is that it runs like a bucket of **** and it blows a lot of oil out the top breather.
I did not strip the engine as it ran fine before the restoration.
I am thinking now that it may need a rebore and the oil that was in there before was extremely thick not to get blown through the breather.
So I think I will be dropping the engine again and doing the top end...
