You've bounced back nicely after that tragedy. Me, I don't know what I would have done! My hat is off to you, sir!

well, when it happened, I think my heart stopped and I quit breathing for about 5 minutes!!! But then after I saw what had happened and took a good few deep breathes, I realized it was over and done with and nothing I can do but move forward. I am not a quitter so that wasn't an option. Thanks for the kudos---you are doing great with yours as well. Keep up the good work.

More progress made. I have the carbs all put back together and on the bike. I also have the brakes mounted and a few other things done. I am currently working on the wiring harness. I had three of them from bikes I had torn apart and in the process of making 1 good one out of those three.

More progress yesterday--spent 8 hours working on it. In fact, got so lost in the work that I didn't come in from the garage until almost midnight. I re-did the wiring harness and put new gray shrink tube on it and found some really neat tape that is very sticky to fill in the gaps. Today I was able to get the headlight on and once I saw what that looked like, I just had to put the tank on to make it feel like I was getting somewhere.

ONE problem though, I cannot get the knee pads on the tank no matter what I do. I struggled and struggled but still can't get them. ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANYONE? Help would be SO appreciated.

Don't know if this will help you but I put mine in boiling water to soften them up and then install. Seemed a bunch easier for me.. Your restore is is just plain pretty. Not that that is a "man" word. mike

ok, another step in the process taken. I have the electrical working except one thing---and that is the neutral light. I need to take a closer look at it but it seems as though my first foray into building a wire harness worked out great. I only wish I would have left one more wire in it to ground the headlight. Right now the headlight grounds on the ring as you all know. Ed said he always leaves that extra wire in for grounding. After testing it both ways by grounding it to the engine, he is right, the light is brighter. Oh well, lesson learned as usual. Do we ever get to old to learn? haha
