Well, the new cover leaked too, so it's back to square one. It looks as if the only way that I'm going to seal the case up is with a Hondabond, Hylomar or similar. I really didn't want to do that. At this point, I'm thinking that I can apply a thin bead on the engine side, apply a new gasket over it, then install the cover. I've ordered the 70mm cover screw that I'm missing to tighten it down. Whatever I finally decide to do, it'll have to wait 'till later as the bike is now stored in the next door neighbor's garage. We're expecting a storm tomorrow and I had to make way for the snow blower. Drat.

While I'm waiting for the snow to stop, I can zinc plate the spark plug wire holders that I forgot about in my last plating session.

I have the desire, I just don't have the skills, the equipment or the experience. To paraphrase President Roosevelt (Teddy), I do the best I can with what I have.

Thank you, Jay. I've got quite a way to go yet. I started off the project with the intention of rebuilding the engine. I still may have to do that, but I won't know until I start it. If that's the case, the road will be long and long.
