Re: Ideas on repro speedometer plate

Hi Bill and I hope these help. I think a .jpg can be converted to another format for the printer with the correct program.

My thoughts are:

Paint the panel with the color and then top that with reflective paint
Have a vinyl transfer made, like a car dealer adhesive sticker, of just the black printing
Lay down the transfer and then coat with a matte finish acrylic clear to avoid any reflection from a gloss finish.

Also, if you do it my simple way, use a clear matte finish to seal and fix the ink rather than gloss. That will avoid and reflection off the clear.

This post is for G-man.You have quite a collection of speedos there. When I acquired my 62 CA77 the speedo glass had been broken and moisture took its toll on the internals.Would you part with a Nippon Seiki speedo containing the high beam indicator? If so....how much?Greener

Most of the speedos I have either have broken glasses or dented bezels so I am trying to build up some good speedos out of the remains. The two NOS NS speedos are destined for my late model Dreams. When I have worked what goes where, I'll let you know.

Most of the ones I have have come from American eBay quite cheaply so keep a lookout there in the meantime.....

Thanks for the reply G-man.I have only seen one NS speedo come across E-bay since I bought the bike.I have kicked myself in the butt(was not easy)ever since I missed that opportunity. There is a NOS Yazaki on E-bay for $350.00,but it is not correct, nor does it have the high beam indicator.Keep me in mind when you have an extra NS speedo.Greener

Auto Meter Speedo?

Post by conbs » Wed Oct 10, 2012 9:21 pm

Check out ebay auction 110963318205 An Auto Meter speedo for a Dream. Seller says it is off of a '63. Anyone have or ever seen one of these before?
